I don't see gender is a common refrain among certain people in discussions of geek feminist issues. It is almost always heard from people who have the Privilege of being a member of the dominant gender, and are able to move through life unaware of the problems faced by those who are not.
Gender-blindness is analogous to racial "color-blindness", which has been widely criticised by anti-racism activists. See, for example:
