Overview

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica [1] a card game is defined as a:

game played for pleasure or gambling (or both) with one or more decks of playing cards. Games using playing cards exploit the fact that cards are individually identifiable from one side only, so that each player knows only the cards he holds and not those held by anyone else.

There are some card games that have been translated over to computer games, such as Magic: The Gathering [2] but that can be found under Computer Games. This page will deal only with the physical version of card games which are played by people in a face-to-face environment.

Organizations

Lady Planeswalkers Society promotes a welcoming environment for women (and everyone) to play and learn Magic the Gathering. Similarly, but with a slightly different focus in terms of target audience Planeswalkers for Diversity also promotes a welcoming environment for everyone to play and learn Magic the Gathering.
