In January 2010, Amber Graner was selected as the leader of the Ubuntu Women project. On the Russian language linux.org.ru site, Elizabeth Krumbach was mistakenly announced as the leader due to having her name associated with the announcement, before the news entry was eventually corrected by a different moderator than the one who approved it. The user comments for the news entry, many of them anonymous, hosted extensive commentary on Elizabeth's appearance, including transphobic commentary on whether or not she appeared to be a cissexual woman.
