Tamora Pierce?
I'm curious where people would place Tamora Pierce's books, specifically the series beginning with _Alanna: The First Adventure_. I haven't read these books in a good two decades, but I can see them tilting either way -- feminist for the obvious reasons, not-so-feminist because the protagonist presents as male without, seemingly, experiencing any gender dysphoria as a result... which means either this is actually a trans character whose transness isn't getting portrayed well, or we're meant to believe that a cis woman wouldn't have any dysphoria about binding her breasts and being read as male. (The latter is certainly possible, but seems like it wants some explanation.)
