Origin of the term

  • The term was not coined by a native Spanish speaker. It was some combination of Jeff Waugh, Mako Hill, Mark Shuttleworth and others, as I recall (I was in the room at the time)
  • As of today, the term is still in use in Launchpad, i.e. bug 272826 is still open, though a decision was taken some months ago to change it (I just noticed this was the case and am trying to get things moving on it again)

I've updated the article slightly based on this. Thayvian 22:35, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

-ista suffix

It must be noted that there are words that are common for both genders, such as dentista (which sounds female, but is used for both genders), or artista. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.69.30.164 (talkcontribs)

It was mentioned in the article, but not very clearly. I've added a paranthetical noting this suffix. Thayvian 22:56, November 10, 2011 (UTC)
